Replication is done in a single process for the following domains:
IBMSystem i objects
DATA
DATA replication is total or selective: it can only take certain databases into account, depending on what must be secured.
In the case of a production system stop, an identical database (physical and logical files) is available on the target system.
APPLICATION OBJECTS
High availability will ensure the security of the whole application set. Thus the objects and data are under the simultaneous monitoring of the high availability tool. The tool takes responsibility for the management of application objects: programs, unit files, etc., including during crossed back-up.
SYSTEM OBJECTS
Replication will ensure the security of the very last link needed for real high availability: components related to configuration on the one hand, and security on the other.
All the configuration objects, the user profiles and the authorization lists can be taken into account in the back-up.
other components
IFS
Replication will ensure the security of the whole IFS, if you have at least release V5R1 of OS/400. In fact, journaling of files stored in the IFS is possible from this release level. Thus the IFS data are handled in the same way as the physical files.
SPOOLS
Replication on the remote site of the spools contained in the OUTQs. On the remote system, the spools are replaced in a strictly identical context (same profile, same OUTQ...).
